"So you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God." (Luke 8:10)
Who among the twelve would not feel especially privileged to know that long-hidden secrets were now being revealed to them? We, on the other hand, might respond differently. "The apostles were special. I'm more like the other people who Jesus describes as those who look but don't see, and who hear but don't understand" (Luke 8:10).
Nothing could be further from the truth! Jesus wants to reveal the mysteries of heaven to all his children. You really are a chosen disciple, just as privileged as the apostles were! God does not measure out his love or his blessings any differently today than he did back then. Every day, he is prepared to pour wisdom and insight into your heart to help you understand the plans he has for you. Every day, he wants to convince you that they are "plans for your welfare, not for woe! Plans to give you a future full of hope" (Jeremiah 29:11).
God wants to reveal himself to you, but this revelation will come only if you ask for it. This is why prayer and Scripture reading are so important. Every day, be sure you are meditating on Scripture, asking the Holy Spirit to open your mind and your heart. Use your imagination to place yourself in a scene from the gospels. Try to recreate the scene in your mind and see the situation through the eyes of one of the characters in the passage. Or maybe spend time contemplating different points from the homily you heard at Mass. Allow what you heard on Sunday to penetrate your heart as you pray or read Scriptures that week.
Whatever you do, try your best to keep a big perspective. Don't let the worries and concerns of the day dominate your thoughts or weigh you down. Lift your eyes to heaven. Ponder the majesty of the risen Lord, the purity and glory that surround his throne, and his plan to bring you into his presence. Let the truths of heaven fill your heart, and you'll be amazed at how much more easily you will be able to work through the challenges and questions of your day-to-day life.

“너희에게는 하느님 나라의 신비를 아는 것이 허락되었다.”(루카 8,10)
열두 제자 가운데, 오랫동안 감춰졌던 비밀이 이제 자신들에게 드러났다는 것을 특권으로 느끼지 않을 이가 누가 있겠습니까? 그렇지만 우리는 다르게 대답할지도 모르겠습니다. “사도들은 특별했었죠. 저야 예수님께서 말씀하신 ‘보아도 알아보지 못하고 들어도 깨닫지 못하는’(루카 8,10) 그런 사람들에 더 가까울 것 같은데요.” 

이건 정말 사실이 아니죠! 예수님은 주님의 모든 자녀들에게 하늘 나라의 신비를 보여 주고 싶어하십니다. 당신은 정말로 사도들과 마찬가지로 특권을 부여받은, 특별히 뽑힌 제자랍니다! 오늘날 하느님께서 우리에게 나누어 주시는 사랑과 은총은 그때와 달라진 게 하나도 없습니다. 날마다 주님께서는 당신을 위해 마련한 계획이 무엇인지 이해시키고자 당신의 가슴에 지혜와 통찰을 불어넣을 채비를 하고 계십니다. 날마다 주님께서는 “그것은 평화를 위한 계획이지 재앙을 위한 계획이 아니므로, 나는 너희에게 미래와 희망을 주고자 한다.”(예레 29,11)고 당신을 확신시키고자 하십니다.
하느님께서는 당신에게 자신을 드러내 보이고 싶어하시지만, 그것은 오직 당신이 청할 때만 이루어집니다. 그래서 기도와 성경 읽기가 그렇게 중요하다고 하는 것이지요. 하루도 빠짐없이 성경을 묵상하고 성령께 당신의 정신과 마음을 열어 주십사고 청하십시오. 당신의 상상력을 총동원하여 복음 속의 한 장면으로 들어가 보십시오. 마음속에 그 장면을 되살려 거기에 등장하는 인물 중 한 사람의 눈으로 그 상황을 바라보십시오. 혹은 미사 때 들은 강론으로 여러 관점에서 묵상하는 시간을 가져 보십시오. 주일에 들은 말씀이 그 주간에 기도하거나 성경을 읽을 때에 당신의 마음을 꿰찌르도록 하십시오.

무엇을 하든지 시야를 넓게 가지도록 최선을 다하십시오. 일상의 걱정 근심에 짓눌리거나 당신의 생각을 지배당하지 마십시오. 눈을 들어 하늘을 보십시오. 부활하신 주님의 위대함과 그분의 왕좌를 에워싼 정결과 영광, 주님 계신 곳으로 당신을 데려가시려는 주님의 계획을 곰곰이 생각하십시오. 천국의 진리로 당신 마음이 채워지게 하십시오. 그러면 당신이 일상생활에서 오는 고난과 문제를 너무나 수월하게 헤쳐 나갈 수 있게 되는 것을 보고 놀라게 될 것입니다.

당신 종이 듣고 있습니다.
제가 점점 더 주님을 닮아가도록
제게 주님 모습을 보여 주십시오.”
