COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT
"I have brought him to Your disciples but they could not cure him." Matthew 17:16

A father complained to Jesus because his son was not healed by the disciples. Jesus did not respond by blaming the father, the son, or the devil. Jesus did not theologize about why people are not healed. He did not fall back on the cliché that the boy will be healed "in God's time."

Surprisingly, Jesus considered the father's complaint justified. He agreed that the boy should have been healed, and blamed His disciples for their lack of faith (Mt 17:20). There are reasons why people are not healed, but Jesus doesn't seem to be as interested in these as we are. He focuses on the faithlessness of the Church rather than the weaknesses of the sick. Jesus doesn't want to talk about why people are not healed but wants to heal them by increasing our faith.

Let's get on with healing the nations, beginning with ourselves and those closest to us. We should rechannel the energies we're expending in analyzing, theologizing, and rationalizing into repenting, believing, and healing. Jesus is the same today as yesterday (Heb 13:8). Let's expect healing, and know the Lord wants to heal us much more than we even want to be healed.

get on with 진척시키다. 진행하다.
rechannel TV채널의 채널이 동사로 쓰이면 (정보, 관심, 노력 등을) 어떤 방향으로 돌리다, 전하다, 보내다는 의미입니다. 여기서는 ‘다시’라는 의미의 접두사 ‘re’가 붙어 한 곳으로 돌리던 (정보, 관심, 노력 등을) 다른 곳으로 돌리다의 의미가 됩니다.

불만 신고처
“주님의 제자들에게 데려가 보았지만 그들은 고치지 못하였습니다.”  마태 17,16

제자들이 자기 아들의 병을 고치지 못한다고 한 아버지는 예수님께 불평을 합니다. 예수님께서는 그 아버지나 아들, 또는 마귀를 탓하시지 않았습니다. 왜 사람들의 병이 치유되지 않는지 신학적으로 이유를 달지도 않으셨습니다. “하느님의 시대”가 도래하면 소년의 병이 나을 것이라는 진부한 표현에 기대지도 않으셨습니다.

놀랍게도 예수님께서는 그 아버지의 불평을 그럴 만하다고 여기셨습니다. 예수님께서는 소년이 나았어야 한다는 데 동의하시고 제자들에게 믿음이 부족함을 탓하셨습니다(마태 17,20). 사람들이 치유되지 않음에는 이유가 있습니다만 예수님께서는 우리만큼 그 이유들에 관심이 있지는 않아 보이십니다. 예수님께서는 병자의 나약함보다는 교회의 신심 부족에 초점을 맞추십니다. 예수님께서는 왜 사람들이 치유되지 않는지에 대해 얘기하기 보다는 믿음을 키워 그들을 치유하고 싶어하십니다.

우리 그리고 우리와 가장 가까운 이들부터 시작해서 전 인류를 치유해 갑시다. 우리는 분석하고, 신학적으로 연구하고, 이론적으로 설명하는 데 쏟았던 모든 에너지를 회개하고, 믿으며, 치유하는 데로 돌려야 합니다. 예수 그리스도는 어제도 오늘도 또 영원히 같은 분이십니다(히브 13,8). 치유를 기대합시다. 그리고 주님께서는 우리가 치유 받길 원하는 것보다 더 많이 우리를 치유하고 싶어하신다는 것을 기억합시다.
