DON'T TAKE THE MONEY

신자들의 임무

“그들은 그리스도를 위하여 길을 나선 사람들로, 이교인들에게서는 아무것도 받지 않습니다.” — 3 요한 7

 

Would your church turn down a donation from an unbeliever? John's church did. They accepted nothing from the pagans. Would your church refuse to take a collection even from believers under certain circumstances? Paul boasted to the Corinthians that he offered the gospel free of charge(1 Cor 9:18).

여러분의 교회는 비신자들로부터의 헌금을 거절합니까? 요한의 교회는 그랬습니다. 그들은 이교도들로부터는 아무 것도 받지 않았습니다. 여러분의 교회는 신자들로부터라도 상황에 따라서는 헌금을 거절할 수 있겠습니까? 사도 바오로는 코린도인들에게 복음을 거저 전함을 자랑했습니다(1 코린 9:18).

 

In modern churches, we're accustomed to raise funds in any way and from anybody. Because of our unbiblical approach to church finances, we project to unbelievers the image of beggars. It appears to them that God's children are always needy and our Father isn't much of a provider. We need to act like royal children who are free to turn down donations and refrain from collections. 현대 교회에서 우리는 어떻게 해서든 누구에게서든지 헌금을 받는 데 길들여져 있습니다. 이러한 비성서적 교회재정 충당 때문에 우리는 비신자들에게 걸인의 이미지로 비춰질 때가 있습니다.  그들에게 하느님의 자식들은 항상 어렵고 아버지이신 하느님이 제대로 베풀지 않으시는 것으로 보이는 것입니다. 우리는 기부금을 거절하고 헌금을 멀리 할 수 있는 고귀한 자식들처럼 행동할 필요가 있습니다.

Much of the time, the Lord will provide through our own Church family. "We owe it to such men to support them and thus to have our share in the work of truth" (3 Jn 8). Other times God will not even use the Church, but will rain down manna from heaven or multiply the loaves and fishes.

주님은 많은 시간, 우리 교회 가족 스스로를 통해 베풀어 주셨습니다. “우리가 그러한 이들을 돌보아 주어야 합니다. 그렇게 하여 우리는 진리의 협력자가 되는 것입니다” (3 요한 8). 다른 때에는 하느님께서 교회를 쓰지조차 않으시되, 하늘로부터 만나를 내려주시거나 빵과 물고기를 불려 주실 것입니다.

We are royal children. Let's act like it and believe it. "But when the Son of Man comes, will He find any faith on the earth?" (Lk 18:8)

우리는 하느님의 고귀한 자식들입니다. 이를 믿고 그에 맞는 행동을 합시다. “그러나 사람의 아들이 올 때에 이 세상에서 믿음을 찾아볼 수 있겠느냐?” (루카 18:8)

boast 자랑하다, 큰소리치다, 호언장담하다 (+that 절)

royal 1 왕다운, 국왕에 어울리는 고귀한 2 기품(위품)있는, 고귀한

we are accustomed to raise.. 왜, we are accustomed to raising… 이 아닙니까? 라고 질문하시는 분들이 있습니다.  대부분, be accustomed to + 동명사/명사 가 오는 것이 사실입니다. (to 는 전치사). 하지만, 화자(話者)가 “우리는 이제 익숙해졌습니다. <u> 그래서, 그 결과 </u> 우리는 이러이러한 일을 하게 됐습니다” 라는 뜻으로 말할 때는 to 다음에 동사 원형이 옵니다. 따라서 반드시 비문법적인 표현이라고는 볼 수 없습니다.

be free to 자유로이, 마음대로 …할 수 있다

refrain from 그만두다, 참다, 삼가다, 억누르다
