THIRSTY

 "This Spirit He lavished on us through Jesus Christ our Savior, that we might be justified by His grace and become heirs, in hope, of eternal life." —Titus 3:6-7

 

갈망

  "이 성령을 하느님께서는 우리 구원자이신 예수 그리스도를 통하여 우리에게 풍성히 부어 주셨습니다. 그리하여 우리는 그분의 은총으로 의롭게 되어, 영원한 생명의 희망에 따라 상속자가 되었습니다.." —티토 3:6-7

The Lord wants to immerse us in a lavish, unrationed outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Jn 3:34; Mk 1:8). Yet we must thirst to receive the Spirit. "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me; let him drink who believes in Me. Scripture has it: 'From within Him rivers of living water shall flow.' (Here He was referring to the Spirit)" (Jn 7:37-39).

 주님은 우리가 풍부하며 한량없이 넘치는 성령으로(요한 3;34; 마르 1:8) 가득 차길 바랍니다. 게다가 우리는 성령을 받는 것에 목 말라 해야 합니다. “목마른 사람은 다 나에게 와서 마셔라. 나를 믿는 사람은 성경 말씀대로 ‘그 속에서부터 생수의 강들이 흘러나올 것이다.’(이는 당신을 믿는 이들이 받게 될 성령을 가리켜 하신 말씀이었다.)” (요한 7;37-39).

 

We must thirst tremendously to receive the Spirit to the degree God wishes to give Himself. For example, if you feel a little thirsty, you may ask for a glass of water. If extremely thirsty, you may gulp down a quart of water or even pour some over your head. The Lord, however, wants to immerse us in the Holy Spirit, in rivers of living water (Jn 7:38). Imagine how thirsty you must be to receive so great an outpouring of the Spirit.

 우리는 하느님이 자신을 주시고자 하는 정도까지의 성령을 받으려고 몹시 목 말라 해야 합니다. 예를 들면, 여러분이 갈증이 나면 물을 달라고 할 것입니다. 너무 갈증이 나면 물 한 통을 벌컥벌컥 마신 후, 머리 위에까지 끼얹을 것입니다. 그러나 하느님은 우리가 성령에 또는 생수의 강물에(요한 7:38) 푹 빠져있기를 바라십니다.  성령을 넘치게 받으려면 얼마나 갈망해야 하는지 상상해 보십시오.  

 

So before praying for the Spirit, pray for a thirst for the Spirit. Read the Scriptures on the Spirit. Listen to others testify about the Spirit's power. Get thirstier and thirstier, enough to want to jump into the living waters. "Let him who is thirsty come forward; let all who desire it accept the gift of life-giving water" (Rv 22:17).

그러므로 성령을 위해 기도하기 전에, 성령에 목마르게 해달라는 기도를 하십시오. 성령에 관한 성서를 읽으십시오. 그리고 다른 사람들이 증거한 성령의 능력에 관하여 들으십시오.  목말라하면 할수록, 생수에 빠지길 더 많이 바라게 될 것입니다. “목마른 사람은 오너라. 원하는 사람은 생명수를 거저 받아라” (묵시 22:17).
