PROPHET-SHARING

 "Off with you, visionary, flee to the land of Judah! There earn your bread by prophesying, but never again prophesy in Bethel." —Amos 7:12-13

 

예언자가 됩시다

 “선견자야, 어서 유다 땅으로 달아나, 거기에서나 예언하며 밥을 벌어먹어라. 다시는 베텔에서 예언을 하지 마라. ” —아모스 7:12-13

 

Prophets and prophetesses are bad for business and disturb the status quo. They comfort the afflicted and afflict the comforted. They challenge our lifestyle and refuse to accept our rationalizations. Prophets tell the truth that we must repent or receive the wages of sin, that is, bondage, death, and damnation (Rm 6:23). Prophets will be the ruination of our religions, denominations, and cultural Christianity. They will strip off our carnal body completely and leave us with nothing but Jesus (Col 2:11).

예언자들은 거래에 서투르며 현상유지를 가만 두지 않습니다. 그들은 괴로움은 잠재우고 안주(安住)하면 들쑤십니다. 우리의 삶의 태도를 지적하며 우리의 합리적 사고를 수용하길 거부합니다.  그들은 우리가 회개하지 않으면 죄의 품삯인 속박과 죽음과 지옥행을 면치 못하리라는 진리를 선포합니다 (로마 6:23). 예언자들은 우리의 종교들과 갈라진 교파들, 그리고 그리스도 신앙문화 몰락의 표상(表象)이 될 것입니다. 그들은 예수님만 남기고 우리 세속의 육신을 완전히 벗겨낼 것입니다 (콜로 2:11).

 

We should set our "hearts on spiritual gifts — above all, the gift of prophecy" (1 Cor 14:1), although deep in our hearts we don't want anything to do with prophecy. A prophet is not accepted in his native place (Jn 4:44). We must either die to ourselves or put the prophets to death. When we reject the prophet, we reject Jesus and the Father Who sent Jesus (Lk 10:16). But if we don't reject the prophet, we must reject our sin, deny our very selves, and take up the daily cross (Lk 9:23).

마음 깊은 곳으로부터의 갈망은 없다 할지라도 “성령의 은사, 특히 예언할 수 있는 은사를 열심히” 구하십시오 (1코린 14:1). 예언자는 자기 고향에서 존경 받지 못합니다 (요한 4:44). 우리가 자신을 버리지 않으면 예언자들을 죽이는 것입니다. 우리가 예언자를 물리치면 예수님을 물리치는 것이 되고, 예수님을 보내신 아버지를 물리치는 것입니다 (루카 10:16). 하지만 우리가 예언자를 물리치지 않을 것이라면, 우리는 죄를 물리치고 자신을 버리며 날마다 십자가를 져야 할 것입니다 (루카 9:23).

 

Will we continue to sin and live the lifestyle of selfishness? Will we force the prophet to shake the dust from his feet in testimony against us? (Mk 6:11)

그래도 죄를 짓고 이기주의적인 삶을 살겠습니까? 예언자가 우리에 대한 증거로서 그 발밑의 먼지를 털어버리도록 해야 하겠습니까? (마르 6:11)

 strip off  벗기다; 빼앗다; 벗다, 벗어버리다.

 carnal  ① 육체의(fleshly); 육감적인(sensual), 육욕적인. ② 세속적인(worldly); 물욕의.

 prophecy   ① 예언; 신의(神意)의 전달;  예언 능력. ② 예언서.

 testimony   증언, 증거

 cultural Christianity : 직역하면 “문화적 기독교 신앙”이 되어 우리말로는 뜻이 이상해 짐.  이런 경우 영어는 종종 앞의 형용사 cultural 을 명사로, 뒤의 Christianity 를 형용사적으로 씀.  결국 Christian culture 라는 뜻.
