안녕하십니까?
6월 24일 아침은 월드컵 16강 좌절을 보았습니다. 그렇지만 우리 팀은 정말 월드컵 연속 출전팀 답게 좋은 경기를 보여 주었습니다. 우리 선수들이 자랑습니다.
사도들은 오늘 복음에 나오는 폭풍을 잠재우신 예수님에 대한 기억으로 어려움이 있을 때마다 힘을 얻곤 했다고 합니다.
행복한 그리스도인으로 한 주간 잘 보내시기 바랍니다.

12th Sunday of Ordinary Time (June 25, 2006)
On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” And leaving the crowd, they took him with them just as he was, in the boat. And other boats were with him. and a great storm of wind arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care if we perish?” And he awoke and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Have you no faith?” And they were filled with awe, and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even wind and sea obey him?”

35 그날 저녁이 되자 예수님께서 제자들에게, “호수 저쪽으로 건너가자.” 하고 말씀하셨다. 36 그래서 그들이 군중을 남겨 둔 채, 배에 타고 계신 예수님을 그대로 모시고 갔는데, 다른 배들도 그분을 뒤따랐다. 37 그때에 거센 돌풍이 일어 물결이 배 안으로 들이쳐서, 물이 배에 거의 가득 차게 되었다. 38 그런데도 예수님께서는 고물에서 베개를 베고 주무시고 계셨다. 제자들이 예수님을 깨우며, “스승님, 저희가 죽게 되었는데도 걱정되지 않으십니까?” 하고 말하였다. 39 그러자 예수님께서 깨어나시어 바람을 꾸짖으시고 호수더러, “잠잠해져라. 조용히 하여라!” 하시니 바람이 멎고 아주 고요해졌다. 40 예수님께서는 그들에게, “왜 겁을 내느냐? 아직도 믿음이 없느냐?” 하고 말씀하셨다. 41 그들은 큰 두려움에 사로잡혀 서로 말하였다. “도대체 이분이 누구시기에 바람과 호수까지 복종하는가?”
Commentary
35-41. The episode of the calming of the storm, the memory of which must often have helped the apostles regain their serenity in the midst of struggles and difficulties, also helps us never lose the supernatural way of looking at things: a Christian’s life is like a ship: “As a vessel on the sea is exposed to a thousand dangers – pirates, quicksands, hidden rocks, tempests – so man in this life, is encompassed with perils, arising from the temptations of hell, from the occasions of sin, from the scandals or bad counsels of men, from human respect, and, above all from the passions of corrupt nature[..]. This should not cause him to lose confidence. Rather [..] when you find yourself assaulted by a violent passion [..] take whatever steps you can to avoid the occasions [of sin] and place your reliance on God [..]: when the tempest is violent, the pilot never takes his eyes from the light which guides him to port. In like manner, we should keep our eyes always turned to God, who alone can deliver us from the many dangers to which we are exposed” (St Augustine, Sermons, 51; for the fourth Sunday after Epiphany).

35-41. 폭풍을 잠재우신 일화에 대한 기억은 사도들이 고난과 어려움에서 힘을 얻는데 도움이 되었다. 마찬가지로 우리 그리스도인들에게도 사물을 초자연적 관점에서 보도록 도움을 준다: 그리스도인들의 삶은 배와 같다: “바다 위에 있는 배가 수 많은 위험, 즉 해적, 流沙, 암초, 폭풍우,..등등에 노출되어 있는 것과 같이 이 세상에서의 인간의 삶도 온갖 어려움에 싸여 있습니다. 그 어려움들은 지옥의 유혹으로부터, 죄악으로부터, 추문으로부터, 다른 사람의 악한 꾀임으로부터, 사람에 대한 존경으로부터, 그리고 무엇보다도 부정한 것에 대한 열정으로부터 오는 것들입니다. 자신이 폭력적인 열정에 싸여있다고 생각될 때에는 모든 수단을 다 써서 죄를 지을 수 있는 그 순간을 피하시고 하느님께 의지하십시오 [..]: 폭풍이 격렬할 때에 항해사는 항구로 안내하는 불빛에서 눈을 떼지 않습니다. 같은 태도로 우리는 항상 우리가 노출된 많은 위험으로부터 우리를 구하실 수 있는 단 한 분이신 하느님께 우리의 눈을 돌려야 합니다” (St Augustine, Sermons, 51; for the fourth Sunday after Epiphany).
