"STOP, IN THE NAME OF LOVE"

"You shall love the Lord your God with all..." —Mark 12:30

 

"말을 멈추고, 실천하는 사랑을"

 “그러므로 너는 ... 다하여 주 너의 하느님을 사랑해야 한다”—마르코 12:30

 

Think about your relationship with the person you love the most. It's one thing to say: "I love you." It's quite another thing to put everything aside and demonstrate your love for them by devoting your full attention to them for a long period of time.

우리가 가장 사랑하는 사람과의 관계에 대해 생각해 봅시다. “사랑해요” 하고 말로 하는 것과, 다른 모든 것을 희생하여 긴 세월 동안 온 정성을 다 바침으로써 상대방에 대한 사랑이 드러나는 것은 다른 문제입니다.

 

Married couples are often so busy that they are relegated to sharing a quick "I love you" as they pass each other in the garage. Occasionally, one of the spouses may say: "Time out! Stop! Enough is enough. We're canceling soccer and spending the night together for once."

서로 자신의 일에 너무 바빠 주차장에서나 마주치면 “사랑해”라는 짧은 한 마디 하고 다시 헤어지는 지경에 이른 부부를 쉽게 봅니다. 가끔 어느 한 사람이 “중지! 잠깐 쉽시다! 경기를 잠시 멈추고 오늘은 잠자리나 한 번 함께 합시다” 하는 사이로 전락한 것이지요.

 

Does this busy-ness describe your relationship with God? Jesus tells us in today's Gospel that nothing is more important than loving God with your all (Mk 12:30). It's less important to spend five minutes reading this teaching than it is to spend those five minutes loving God. So, stop right now and start loving God with your all.

우리의 하느님과의 관계가 이렇지는 않은지요? 오늘의 복음에서 예수님께서는 우리의 모든 것을 다하여 하느님을 사랑하는 것보다 중요한 것은 없다고 말씀하십니다 (마르 12:30). 이 글을 5분간 읽는 것보다 하느님을 5분간 사랑하는 것이 더 중요합니다. 자, 당장 읽기를 멈추고 당신의 모든 것을 바쳐 하느님 사랑을 실천합시다.
