RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT
"All were filled with the Holy Spirit. They began to express themselves in foreign tongues and make bold proclamations as the Spirit prompted them." —Acts 2:4
성령을 받읍시다
“그러자 그들은 모두 성령으로 가득 차, 성령께서 표현의 능력을 주시는 대로 다른 언어들로 말하기 시작하였다.” —사도 2:4
We hear about the Holy Spirit in the second verse of the Bible: "The earth was a formless wasteland, and darkness covered the abyss, while a mighty wind," that is, the Spirit, "swept over the waters" (Gn 1:2). The Lord sent out His Spirit to renew the face of the earth (Ps 104:30). Then the first human person sinned and began to reverse creation back to chaos. The Spirit needed to be poured out again, not on the earth but on its people. God promised Joel He would pour out His Holy Spirit on all flesh (Jl 3:1).

Hundreds of years later this promise was miraculously fulfilled when the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary, and God was conceived as a Man in her womb (Lk 1:35). Shortly after conception, this Baby Jesus poured out the Spirit on another baby in the womb, later named John the Baptist (Lk 1:15, 41). Years later, John pointed out Jesus as the One Who would baptize all humanity in the Spirit (Lk 3:16). Jesus offered the Spirit at His death (Jn 19:30) and resurrection (Jn 20:22). For the most part, people did not accept the Spirit.
오랜 세월 후, 성령께서 마리아를 덮어,그 태중에 하느님을 사람으로 잉태시킴으로써 이 약속은 신비스럽게 이행되었습니다 (루카 1:35). 잉태가 이루어진 얼마 후, 아기 예수께서는 다른 태중의 한 아기 – 후의 세례자 요한 – 에게도 성령을 부으셨습니다 (루카 1:15, 41). 나중에 요한은 사람들에게 예수님을 인류에게 성령으로 세례를 주실 유일한 분임을 알렸습니다 (루카 3:16). 예수님은 숨을 거두셨다가 (요한 19:30) 부활하신 후 나타나셔서 숨을 불어넣으시며 (요한 20:22) 우리에게 성령을 보내셨습니다. 그러나 어느 곳에서고 성령을 받아들이는 사람은 드물었습니다.
Finally, on Pentecost, 120 people received the Spirit. Later that day, 3,000 more received (Acts 2:41). Pentecost continues. Everyone can receive. Repent, believe, ask, receive (Acts 2:38). Come, Holy Spirit!
마침내 성령강림일에 120 명이, 그리고 그날 이후로 3,000 여명이 더 성령을 받았습니다 (사도 2:41). 성령강림은 오늘도 계속됩니다. 성령은 누구나 받을 수 있습니다. 회개하고, 믿음으로 청하면 성령을 선물로 받을 것입니다 (사도 2:38). 오소서, 성령이여!
