FRUIT STAND

 "No more than a branch can bear fruit of itself apart from the vine, can you bear fruit apart from Me." —John 15:4

 

열매

  "가지가 포도나무에 붙어 있지 않으면 스스로 열매를 맺을 수 없는 것처럼, 너희도 내 안에 머무르지 않으면 열매를 맺지 못한다." —요한 15:4

 

The first words God said to newly created humanity was: "Be fertile and multiply" (Gn 1:28). Among Jesus last words before His Ascension were: "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations. Baptize them in the name 'of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit' " (Mt 28:19). Immediately before His Ascension, Jesus commanded us to be His witnesses "even to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

하느님이 태초에 인간을 창조하시고 나서 처음 하신 말씀은: “자식을 많이 낳고 번성하여라”(창세 1:28) 입니다. 승천하시기 전 마지막으로: “그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 민족들을 제자로 삼아, 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 주어라”(마태 28:19)입니다. 그리고 승천하시기 직전에 예수님은 우리에게 “땅 끝에 이르기까지”(사도 1:8) 주님의 증인이 될 것을 명하십니다.   

 

Jesus expects us to produce abundantly as branches on the Vine, or else we will be "picked up to be thrown in the fire and burnt" (Jn 15:6). Even fruitful branches the Lord "trims clean to increase their yield" (Jn 15:2). The Lord makes it extremely clear we must bear fruit by leading people to Him. Christians bear fruit by making Christians. During the first Easter season, the apostles were transformed from being fruitless to being fruitful. Expect the same transformation in your life this Easter season and  Pentecost. Jesus proclaimed: "My Father has been glorified in your bearing much fruit and becoming My disciples" (Jn 15:8). "Make disciples" (Mt 28:19).

예수님은 우리가 포도나무의 가지처럼 풍성하게 열매 맺기를 바라십니다. 그리고 열매를 맺지 않은 “가지들은 따로 모아 불에 던져 태워버릴 것”(요한 15:6) 이라고 하십니다. 또한 열매를 맺는 가지라도 “더 많은 열매를 맺게 하시려고 깨끗이 손질하십니다”(요한 15:2). 주님은 우리가 사람들을 주님께 인도하여 많은 열매를 맺어야 한다고 분명히 말씀하십니다. 그리스도 신자들은 그리스도 신자들을 많이 만들어야 합니다. 처음 부활절에 사도들은 열매를 맺지 못하는 가지에서 열매를 맺는 가지로 변화됩니다. 이번 부활시기와 성령강림 일에 같은 변화가 여러분에게 일어나기를 기대합니다. 예수님은 다음과 같이 말씀하십니다: “너희가 많은 열매를 맺고 내 제자가 되면, 그것으로 내 아버지께서 영광스럽게 되실 것입니다”(요한 15:8). 그러니 “제자를 만드십시오”(마태 28:19).
