본 것을 말하십시오

“그것은 주님 영광의 형상처럼 보였다.” — Ezekiel 1:28

 

Ezekiel experienced an overwhelmingly awesome vision of the Lord. In this vision, God called Ezekiel to prophesy to the hardened, yet endangered Israelites. The king, Jehoiachin, was already in exile, and the people would soon suffer the same fate.

에제키엘은 말로 표현할 수 없이 장엄한 주님의 형상을 보았습니다. 그 형상에서 하느님께서는 마음이 완고하며 큰 위험에 처한 이스라엘 백성들에게 예언하라고 에제키엘을 부르셨습니다. 여호야킨 임금은 이미 유배 중 이었고 백성들도 곧 같은 운명에 처할 것이었습니다.

 

In Ezekiel chapters 2 and 3, the Lord sends Ezekiel to speak His prophetic words of warning to "rebels...hard of face and obstinate of heart" who "will refuse to listen to" Ezekiel (Ez 2:3, 4; 3:7). God tells Ezekiel several times to not be afraid and to speak all His words to this stubborn people. Instead of being discouraged, Ezekiel was "spiritually stirred, while the hand of the Lord rested heavily upon" him (Ez 3:14).

에제키엘 2장과 3장에서 주님께서는 에제키엘을 보내시어 “얼굴이 뻔뻔하고 마음이 완고한… 반역의 민족들”, 에제키엘의 말을 “들으려 하지 않는 자들”에게 (에제 2:3, 4; 3:7) 경고의 예언을 하게 하십니다. 하느님께서는 두려워 하지 말고 이 완고한 백성에게 당신의 말씀을 전하라고 몇 번씩이나 말씀하십니다. 에제키엘은 용기가 꺾이는 대신 “성령의 감화를 받았으며”  “주님의 손이 그에게 무겁게 내렸습니다.” (에제 3:14)

 

If you received the Eucharist yesterday, you've seen the Lord — in a way far superior to Ezekiel's vision. God called Isaiah and Ezekiel to prophesy in the midst of great visions. Likewise, God is calling you in the midst of your vision of Him. Some of you are called to be priests, others to the religious life, others to the lay single vocation. All of you are called to be prophets to a hardened, yet endangered age and culture no less obstinate than Ezekiel's. "Fear them not, nor be dismayed at their looks" (Ez 3:9), for God will make you stronger than they (see Ez 3:8-9; Jer 1:17-19). Accept your calling and vocation from the Lord. Speak His prophetic words. You are more than a conqueror in Jesus (Rm 8:37).

여러분이 어제 성체를 모셨다면 여러분은 주님을 뵌 것입니다. 에제키엘보다 훨씬 뛰어난 형상으로 말입니다. 하느님께서는 탁월한 형상 속에서 이사야와 에제키엘을 불러 예언하게 하셨습니다. 이처럼 하느님께서는 여러분이 그려 놓은 그 분의 형상 속에서 여러분을 부르고 계십니다. 여러분 중 일부는 사제직으로, 어떤 이는 종교적인 삶으로, 또 다른 이는 독신의 소명으로 부르심을 받았습니다. 여러분 모두는 마음이 굳어지고 위험에 처한 세대를 향한, 에제키엘 시대 못지않게 완고한 문화를 향한 예언직의 사명을 받았습니다. “그들을 두려워하지 말고 그들의 얼굴을 보고 떨지도 마십시오” (에제 3:9) 왜냐하면 하느님께서는 그들보다 여러분을 더욱 강하게 만들 것이기 때문입니다. (에제 3:8-9; 예레 1:17-19) 주님께서 주신 여러분의 부르심과 소명에 따르십시오. 그분의 예언적인 말씀을 전하십시오. 우리는 예수님에 힘입어 이 모든 것을 이기고도 남습니다. (로마 8:37)
