IGNORANCE AIN'T BLISS
"Yet I know, my brothers, that you acted out of ignorance, just as your leaders did." —Acts 3:17
“모르는 게 약”이 아닙니다
“이제, 형제 여러분! 나는 여러분도 여러분의 지도자들과 마찬가지로 무지한 탓으로 그렇게 하였음을 압니다.” —사도 3:17
Contrary to the old saying, ignorance is not bliss. What you don't know will hurt you. God's people perish for lack of knowledge (Hos 4:6).
옛말과는 달리, 모르는 게 약이 아닙니다. 모르면 손해입니다. 하느님의 백성은 예지가 없으면 망합니다 (호세 4:6).
Of course, the Lord is merciful and will even make excuses for us in our ignorance: "Father, forgive them; they do not know what they are doing" (Lk 23:34). Nevertheless, there comes a time when there's no excuse for our ignorance of God, His word, and His plan of salvation. "God may well have overlooked bygone periods when men did not know Him; but now He calls on all men everywhere to reform their lives" (Acts 17:30). "For if the word spoken though angels stood unchanged, and all transgression and disobedience received its due punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore a salvation as great as ours?" (Heb 2:2-3)
물론 하느님의 자비는 우리가 몰라서 저지를 죄를 다 용서하시기에, 예수님께서도 “아버지, 저들을 용서해 주십시오. 저들은 자기들이 무슨 일을 하는지 모릅니다” (루카 23:34) 하고 청하셨지만, 하느님을, 말씀을, 그리고 그 분의 구원계획을 모르면 용서받지 못하는 때가 옵니다. “하느님께서 무지의 시대에는 그냥 보아 넘겨 주셨지만, 이제는 어디에 있든 모두 회개해야 한다고 사람들에게 명령하십니다” (사도 17:30). “천사들을 통하여 선포된 말씀이 유효하고, 그것을 어기거나 따르지 않는 자들은 모두 정당한 벌을 받았는데, 하물며 우리가 이렇듯 고귀한 구원을 소홀히 하면 어떻게 벌을 피할 수 있겠습니까?” (히브 2:2-3).
Jesus wants us to know Him and His word. He spent the first Easter Sunday explaining the Scriptures. On Easter afternoon, He taught the two disciples on the road to Emmaus (Lk 24:32). In the evening, He "opened their minds to the understanding of the Scriptures" (Lk 24:45). The Holy Spirit commanded the early believers to devote themselves to the apostles' instruction (Acts 2:42). "Each day they studied the Scriptures to see whether these things were so" (Acts 17:11).
예수님께서는 우리가 당신과 당신의 말씀을 알아듣기를 원하십니다. 부활 첫 주일은 성경을 풀이해 주시며 보내지 않으셨습니까? 부활하신 날 오후에, 주님께서는 엠마오로 가는 두 제자들을 가르치셨습니다 (루카 24:32). 저녁에는 “그들의 마음을 여시어 성경을 깨닫게 해 주셨습니다 (루카 24:45). 성령의 명령으로 초기의 신자들은 사도들의 가르침을 따르는 데 전념하며 (사도 2:42), “그것이 사실인지 알아보려고 날마다 성경을 연구하였습니다” (사도 17:11).
In this age of the Spirit, there's no excuse for ignorance. "Do not continue in ignorance, but try to discern the will of the Lord" (Eph 5:17).
성령의 시대가 왔으니, 무지는 용서 받지 못합니다. “그러니 어리석은 자가 되지 말고, 주님의 뜻이 무엇인지 깨달으십시오” (에페 5:17).
