야곱에게 자녀가 생겨나다

 

31 야훼께서는 레아가 남편에게 차별대우를 받는 것을 보시고 그의 태를 열어 주셨다.

 

32 그러나 라헬은 아기를 잉태하지 못하였다. 레아는 마침내 임신하여 아기를 낳았다. 그리고는 "야훼께서 나의 억울한 심정을 살펴 주셨구나. 이제는 남편이 나를 사랑해 주겠지" 하면서 아기 이름을 르우벤 이라 불렀다.

 

33 레아는 또 임신하여 아기를 낳았다. 그리고는 "내가 차별대우를 받아 하소연하는 소리를 들으시고 야훼께서 나에게 또 아들을 주셨구나" 하면서 아기 이름을 시므온이라 불렀다.

 

34 그는 또 임신하여 아들을 낳았다. 그리고는 "이렇게 아들을 셋이나 낳아 드렸으니 이제는 남편이 별수없이 나한테 매이겠지" 하면서 아기 이름을 레위라 불렀다.

 

35 그는 또 임신하여 아들을 낳았다. 그리고는 "이제야말로 내가 야훼를 찬양하리라" 하면서 아기 이름을 유다라 불렀다. 그 뒤 얼마 동안 레아는 아기를 낳지 못했다.

 

 

 

The Children Born to Jacob

 

31 When  the LORD saw that Leah was loved less than Rachel, he made it possible for her to have children, but Rachel remained childless.

 

32 Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She said, "The LORD  has seen my trouble, and now my husband will love me"; so she named him Reuben."

 

33 She became pregnant again and gave birth to another son. She said, "The LORD  has give me the son also, because he heard that l was not loved"; so she name him Simeon.

 

34 Once again she became pregnant and gave birth to another son. She said, "Now my husband will be bound more tightly to me, bacause l have borne him three son."; so she named him Levi.

 

35 Then she became pregnant again and gave birth to another son. She said, "This time I will  praise the LORD "; so she named him Judah. Then she stopped having children.
