Today is the Sunday of all Sundays, the great celebration of the resurrection of Jesus! On this day, we join with the disciples as they race to the tomb and discover it empty. We don't have to linger on the outside with our doubts and fears. We can accompany the beloved disciple who went into the tomb and "saw and believed"(John 20:8). Then, with Mary Magdalene, we can embrace Jesus as our risen Lord.
During Lent, we searched our hearts to find the stones that block us from uniting ourselves with the resurrected Christ. Now Jesus has rolled back these stones so that we can enter into a life of freedom and hope and joy. Let this be a day of celebration! Jesus has triumphed over every obstacle. He has obtained everything we need. We can rest in his arms, knowing that we are secure.
Let's stay close to Jesus in the joy of the resurrection. Though world events may be cause for serious concern, though the "inpredictables" of daily life may challenge our patience and trust, Jesus is with us. He wants the joy and stone-moving power of this day to be available to us always. In faith, we can pursue the lifetime goal of continual resurrections over everything that keeps us from recognizing our privileged position as "beloved disciple."
Now is the time to raise your head and "set your minds on things that are above"(Colossians 3:2). Just as John looked inside the empty tomb and believed, we believe that the same Jesus who died and was thought to be gone forever is now alive. Our faith in his resurrection means we can put our trust in his entire life. All his words are true. All his promises and all our hopes and dreams will be fulfilled. As the light of the resurrection dawns with increasing brilliance, let your Easter alleluia burst forth!

오늘은 모든 주일 중의 주일이며 주님의 부활을 크게 경축하는 날입니다! 바로 오늘, 우리는 무덤으로 달려가 그곳이 빈 것을 알게 된 제자들과 함께 합니다. 우리는 의심과 두려움을 품은 채 밖에서 서성이지 않아도 됩니다. 무덤으로 들어가 “보고 믿은”(요한 20,8), 예수님께서 사랑하신 제자를 따라 그렇게 할 수도 있고, 그런 다음 마리아 막달레나와 함께 부활하신 우리 주 예수님을 껴안을 수도 있습니다.
사순 시기 동안, 우리는 부활하신 예수님과 우리의 결합을 방해하는 걸림돌을 찾아 우리 마음을 샅샅이 살펴보았습니다. 이제 예수님은 그러한 돌을 굴려 치워, 우리가 자유와 희망, 기쁨이 있는 삶을 시작하게 하십니다. 이날이 축복의 날이 되게 합시다! 예수님께서는 모든 장애물을 이기셨습니다. 그분은 우리가 필요로 하는 모든 것을 얻어 주셨습니다. 우리에게는 이제 아무 걱정이 없다는 것을 알고 그분 팔에 안겨 쉴 수 있습니다.
부활의 기쁨 속에 예수님 가까이 머뭅시다. 세상일 때문에 큰 근심거리가 생기더라도, 일상에서 ‘예측할 수 없는 일들’이 우리 인내심과 믿음을 시험하더라도, 예수님께서는 우리와 함께 계십니다. 그분은 이날의 기쁨과, 걸림돌을 치우는 권능이 우리에게도 항상 가능하기를 바라십니다. ‘사랑받는 제자’라는 우리의 특권을 깨닫지 못하게 방해하는 온갖 것들을 이기고 거듭거듭 부활한다는 평생의 목적을 우리는 믿음 속에서 추구할 수 있습니다.
지금은 고개를 들어 “위에 있는 것을 생각할”(콜로 3,2) 때입니다. 사도 요한이 빈 무덤을 들여다보고서 믿은 것처럼, 돌아가시어 영원히 가버리신 줄만 알았던 바로 그 예수님께서 이제 살아 계심을 우리도 믿습니다. 우리가 그분의 부활을 믿는다는 것은 그분의 전 생애를 믿을 수 있음을 의미합니다. 그분이 하신 모든 말씀은 진실합니다. 그분이 하신 모든 약속도, 그리고 우리의 모든 꿈과 희망도 이루어질 것입니다. 부활의 빛이 광채를 더해가기 시작할 때, 당신의 부활절 알렐루야가 먼저 터져나오게 하십시오!
“주 예수님, 당신께서 제게 주신 생명은
얼마나 아름다운지요!
당신의 부활에서 오는 영광된 희망을
노래하게 해 주십시오. 매일같이, 특별히 오늘,
저의 기쁨이 당신께 드리는 저의 선물이 되고,
