Reflection
The bridesmaids are celebrating a wedding. Half are prepared for a longer wait while the other half are not. While they go to find more oil, the groom arrives and the celebration begins. They missed the opportunity to be part of it because they lost sight of their purpose and were not prepared. They did not say no to the opportunity; the opportunity just passed them by!
Louis Pasteur said that chance favors the prepared mind. We can paraphrase and say that opportunity favors the willing soul. Faith needs expression. It needs to make a difference. The Gospel calls us all to make a difference in our world and do something that brings the light of Christ to others. If we want to do good, we do not have to find a way; it will find us. Be open and willing to give and you will receive more than you thought possible.
