Reflection

 

     The parable of the talents is an example of spiritual investment. Each servant is entrusted with a number of talents while the master is away. The talents are put to work so that they grow and earn even more. The successful servant works hard and invests wisely so that he can show a profit. The unsuccessful servant caves in to fear, hiding his talents and not even making a minimal effort.

 

     Like our finances, our spiritual life needs a plan. Besides Mass and prayer, there is so much more we can do. A little time and attention to our choices can lead to great success. Sacraments, education, social action, and ministry all offer possibilities for growing our faith and reaping the rewards for ourselves and our communities. Don't leave it to chance. Choose well how you will invest your faith and beliefs. You have nothing to lose and heaven to gain!
