The kingdom of God is real. Better yet, it's here now, growing bigger and stronger, like the mustard plant in Jesus' parable. It's not "up in heaven," awaiting the time when we will finally enter it. It is also here on earth, where Jesus sowed it among us as the smallest of seeds. Almost of its own accord, the kingdom is coming to maturity. And although we aren't always aware of its presence, it extends over all creation, even over those who don't acknowledge its existence.
Jesus started his ministry by declaring the good news of the coming of the kingdom. He proclaimed it in words, and demonstrated it in power by healing diseases and infirmities. Healing, deliverance, repentance, and transformed livesthese were the marks of the kingdom in Jesus' time, and they remain just as valid today. Whenever and wherever they occur, they declare to an unbelieving world that our God reigns. What's more, the fruits of the Holy Spirit apparent in our lives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self control (Galatians 5:22) also give witness to his kingdomand to our divine citizenship!
Brothers and sisters, God has called us into his kingdom and glory. He really does want to have an intimate, loving relationship with us. Jesus lived, died, and rose again so that we could belong to that kingdom, where we can know him personally and live in his love, guidance, and power. One day, that kingdom will completely overcome the kingdom of the world. We know how the story ends!
Until that end comes, let's declare and demonstrate the kingdom to everyone around us. It's not too hard! When someone is sick, we can pray with them for healing. Should chaos erupt in our homes, we can pray for protection from any darkness that may be oppressing our family. We are citizens of the Kingdom! Let's seek wisdom and dis-cernment, and even words of knowledge and prophecy, when we meet with situations that call for God's power. Let's tell others about the love and goodness and reality of Jesus Christ, and encourage our brothers and sisters to live out their faith. We can't do any less, for we are the presence of his kingdom on this earth!

하느님의 나라는 실제로 있습니다. 더 좋은 것은, 하느님의 나라는 지금 여기에 있으며, 예수님의 비유에 나오는 겨자나무처럼 점점 자라나고 튼튼해진다는 것입니다. 그 나라는 우리가 언젠가 그 안에 들어갈 때를 기다리며 ‘저기 하늘 위에’ 있는 것이 아닙니다. 하느님의 나라는 여기 땅 위에도 있습니다. 예수님께서 우리 안에 작디작은 씨앗을 뿌리셨기 때문입니다. 주님의 나라는 거의 저절로 자라나, 우리가 그 실재를 느끼지 못하는 순간에도 모든 창조물에게로, 심지어 그 존재를 알지 못하는 이들에게로 뻗어나갑니다.
예수님께서는 하느님 나라가 오리라는 기쁜 소식을 선포하는 것으로 당신의 직무를 시작하셨습니다. 그분께서는 그 기쁜 소식을 말씀으로 선포하셨으며, 질병과 장애를 치유하는 능력으로 보여 주셨습니다. 치유와 해방, 뉘우침과 변화된 삶, 이런 것들이 예수님 시대에 하느님 나라의 표징이었고, 오늘날에도 여전히 마찬가지입니다. 언제 어디서든 그러한 일이 일어난다면, 그것은 믿지 않는 세상 사람들에게 하느님께서 다스리신다는 것을 선포하는 것입니다. 게다가, 사랑, 기쁨, 평화, 인내, 호의, 선의, 성실, 온유, 절제(갈라 5,22)와 같이 우리가 살면서 분명하게 볼 수 있는 성령의 열매가 또한 하느님 나라를 증언합니다. 그리고 우리가 그 나라의 거룩한 백성이라는 것도요!
형제자매 여러분, 하느님께서는 우리를 하느님 나라와 당신의 영광으로 부르셨습니다. 그분께서는 우리와 친밀하게 사랑하는 관계를 맺기를 진정으로 바라십니다. 예수님께서는 이 세상에 사셨고, 돌아가셨다가 다시 살아나시어 우리가 하느님 나라에 들어갈 수 있게 하셨습니다. 그곳에서 우리는 그분을 직접 알게 되고 그분의 사랑과 보살핌과 권능 안에 살게 될 것입니다. 언젠가는 하느님 나라가 이 세상의 나라를 완전히 이겨낼 날이 올 것입니다. 우리는 그 이야기가 어떻게 끝날지 알고 있지요!
그날이 올 때까지, 우리 주위의 모든 사람들에게 하느님 나라를 선포하고 보여 줍시다. 그리 어려운 일이 아닙니다! 누군가가 아프면, 그들과 함께 치유를 빌 수 있습니다. 우리 가정에 혼돈이 닥치면 짓누르는 어둠에서 우리 가정을 보호해 주십사고 기도할 수 있습니다. 우리는 하느님 나라의 백성이니까요! 하느님의 능력이 필요한 상황이 오면, 지혜와 식별을 구하고, 나아가 지식과 예언의 말까지도 청합시다. 다른 이들에게 예수 그리스도의 사랑과 선하심과 실재하심을 알려 주고, 우리 형제와 자매들에게 자신들의 신앙을 실천하도록 격려합시다. 이 땅에서 하느님 나라의 현존은 바로 우리들인데, 우리가 이만큼도 못해서야 되겠습니까!
