Reflection

     The years that led up to the Declaration of Independence were not easy. Not everyone was convinced that we should split from England. There were debates about how we would unite, what role the individual states would play, and how taxes would be collected and spent. Those times were filled with fear as well as excitement as the new nation was born.

 

     St. Paul deals with so many mundane issues as he tries to establish the church in different communities. He struggles to preach and teach the Gospel, and at the same time, settle disputes, answer questions and correct errors in teaching. He knows, however, that these struggles are but a small price to pay as he sees the message of faith bear fruit and continue to grow. Our own faith
is strengthened in our battle with evil, in our willingness to choose good and endure whatever difficulties come because of our fidelity to the Gospel. God will bring to fulfillment the good work He has begun in us.
