Reflection

 

The Apostles were afraid. Much had happened in the last few days and their joy was mixed with confusion and uncertainty. Although they had seen Jesus, they also knew the hostility of the crowd. They must have feared for their safety and wondered if they would soon meet their fate. Little did they know that their fate was the Holy Spirit who would come upon them with power and strength. Soon many in that hostile crowd would become the early Church.

We often say that with God all things are possible, yet exclude ourselves
from the possibilities. With Baptism and Confirmation, we are sealed in the power of the Holy Spirit, and the spiritual gifts He brings are ours to call upon. God gives us all that we need to be leaders in faith, witnesses of love and bearers of hope. Our confidence in the Spirit will help us accomplish all things good, holy and true.
