프랑스 알라꼭에서 1647년에 탄생한 성녀 말가리다 마리아 알라꼭(Marguerite Marie Alacoque)은 빨래 르 모니알에 있는 성모 방문 수녀원에 들어가 1671년 5월 25일부터 1673년 12월 25일 사이에 예수 성심의 이 12가지 은총을 받고 처음으로 "예수 성심 공경"을 전파하여 1688년 7월 2일에 공식으로 교회는 "예수성심" 공경을 선포하였고 그는 이윽고 43세로 1690년 10월 17일에 세상을 떠났다.
The twelve promises of the Sacred Heart:
예수성심께서 허락하신 열두 가지 은총:
1. I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
내 성심을 공경하는 이들의 지위에 요긴한 은총을 줄 것이요.
2. I will give peace in their families.
저들의 가정에 평화를 줄 것이요.저들의 가정에 평화를 줄 것이다.
3. I will console them in all their troubles.
저들의 모든 근심 걱정중에 나 저들을 위로하여 줄 것이요.
4. They shall find in My Heart an assured refuge during life and especially at the hour of death.
저들이 살아 있을 때에나 특별히 죽을 때에 나 저들의 의탁이 될 것이요.
5. I will pour abundant blessings on all their undertakings.
저들이 경영하는 모든 사업에 풍성히 강복할 것이요.
6. Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy,
죄인들은 내 성심의 무한한 인자의 샘과 바다를 얻을 것이며,
7. Tepid souls shall become fervent.
냄당하여진 자는 열심하여 질 것이며,
8. Fervent souls shall speedily rise to great perfection,
열심한 이는 빨리 큰 완덕에 나갈 것이며,
9. I will bless the homes in which the image of My Sacred Heart shall be exposed and honored.
내 성심상본을 모시고 공경하는 가정에 강복하여 줄 것이요.
10. I will give to priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts,
신부들에게는 극히 완악한 마음이라도 감동시키는 은헤를 줄 것이며,
11. Those who propagate this devotion shall have their name written in My Heart, and it shall never be effaced.
내 성심 공경을 전파하는 이들의 이름을 내 마음에 사겨 도무지 없어지지 않게 할 것이요.
12. I promise thee in the excess of the mercy of My Heart, that its all-powerful Love will grant to all those who shall receive Communion on the First Friday of Nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under My displeasure, nor without receiving the Sacraments; My Heart shall be their assured refuge at that last hour.
누구든지 아홉 달 동안 연속하여 매월 첫 금요일(첫 금요일 신심)에 영성체하는 이에게는 마지막 통회의 은혜를 주고, 필요한 성사를 다 받고, 은총지위에서 죽게 할 것이며, 그 마지막에 나는 그의 피난처가 되리라.
