THANK YOU FOR COMMANDING THE IMPOSSIBLE
“Then in anger the master handed him over to the torturers until he paid back all that he owed. My heavenly Father will treat you in exactly the same way unless each of you forgives his brother from his heart.” —Matthew 18:34-35
불가능한 일을 시켜주시는 주님, 감사 드립니다.
“그리고 나서 화가 난 주인은 그를 고문 형리에게 넘겨 빚진 것을 다 갚게 하였다. 너희가 저마다 자기 형제를 마음으로부터 용서하지 않으면, 하늘의 내 아버지께서도 너희에게 그와 같이 하실 것이다.” — 마태 18:34-35
If we don’t accept the grace to forgive those who have sinned against us:
우리에게 잘못한 이를 우리가 용서하는 은총을 우리가 받아들이지 않는다면:
the Lord remembers our sins in detail (see Sir 28:1),
we should not expect to be healed by the Lord (Sir 28:3),
we will not be forgiven (Sir 28:2, 4-5), and
we will be handed over to torturers, such as compulsiveness, fear, depression, self-hatred, anxiety, and other evils (Mt 18:34-35).
주님께서는 우리의 죄악을 세세히 기억하고 계시어 (집회 28:1 참조),
우리는 주님께 감히 치유를 구할 수 없을 것이고 (집회 28:3),
우리 죄의 사해짐도 없을 것이며 (집회 28:2, 4-5),
강박관념, 공포심, 의기소침, 자기증오, 분노심, 기타 모든 악으로 비유할 수 있는 고문형리에게 넘겨질 것입니다.
Therefore, we must accept the grace to forgive our brothers and sisters in Christ immediately (see Mt 5:25), repeatedly (Mt 18:22), and from the heart (Mt 18:35). This applies not only to those who have stopped sinning against us but also to those continuing to sin against us. This applies even to our enemies.
그러므로 우리는 지금 당장 그리스도 안에서 내 형제자매의 잘못을 용서하는 은총을 받아들이고 (마태 5:25 참조), 여러 번이라도 그렇게 하며 (마태 18:22), 또한 진심으로 그리 하여야 합니다 (마태 18:35). 이것은 우리에게 잘못하기를 그만 둔 이들에게 뿐만 아니라 지금도 우리에게 잘못하고 있는 이들에게도 해당이 됩니다. 바로 내 원수까지도 사랑하라는 것입니다.
Obviously, it is humanly impossible to forgive. “To err is human; to forgive is divine” (quoted from Alexander Pope). Our only hope is to turn to the Lord, Who is divine. He always provides the grace to obey His commands. He raises us above our human limitations to empower us to choose to forgive immediately all who have sinned against us. Jesus gives us the privilege to live in the new world of grace and mercy. How awesome it is to share in the miracle and mystery of forgiving! Thank You, Jesus, for Your command that we forgive from the heart 70 x 7 times! Thank You for grace and mercy beyond measure! Alleluia!
그러한 용서는 사실상 우리 인간의 힘만으로는 불가능합니다. “인간은 죄를 짓고, 신은 용서하십니다” (알렉산더 교황). 우리가 가질 수 있는 유일한 희망은 신에게, 즉 우리 주님에게로 향하는 것입니다. 주님께서는 당신의 명령에 복종할 수 있는 은총을 어느 때고 내려 주십니다. 주님께서는 우리를 들어 높이시어 인간의 한계를 넘어 우리에게 잘못하고 있는 모든 이를 용서할 수 있는 결단을 지금 당장 내릴 수 있도록 힘을 주십니다. 우리는 예수님으로부터 자비와 은총이 넘치는 새로운 세상에서 사는 특권을 받은 것입니다. 기적이며 신비랄 수도 있는 용서함의 행위를 우리도 나눠할 수 있다는 사실, 이 얼마나 근사한 일입니까? 예수님, 일곱 번씩 일흔 번이라도 진심으로 용서하라고 가르쳐 주심에 정말 감사 드립니다. 한없이 부어주시는 은총과 자비에 감사 드리나이다. 알렐루야!
