따뜻하고 부드러운 목소리 때문에 Crooner라고 불렀다.
He'll Have To Go, Adios Amigo, Am I Losing You,

Welclme To My World등이 대표곡이다.

아름다운 부드러운 목소리로 만인의 가슴을 

달래주던 벨벳 보이스  Jim Reeves는

1964년 낙뢰로 인한 비행기 추락 사고로 41살의 아까운 나이로 세상을 떠났다.

허무하게 세상을 떠나리라고는 그누구도 짐작 하지 못했다.

 

테네시주와 내쉬빌 당국에서 추락한 비행기 수색작업을위해

12대의 정찰기와 2대의 헬기 그리고 연인원 400명을

산속에 투입 이틀만에 찿아낸 추락현장은

참혹한 모습이었다고 한다.

 

그의 최대 히트곡 'He'll Have To Go'는 1959년 이후

전세계인의 애청곡이 되었고

짐리브스는 만인의 연인으로 마음속에 자리잡고있었기 때문에

그충격은 더욱 컸던 것이다.
