parish of Ijui, Brazil
1977-1982 Was sent by the Society of Christ to Central Falls, R.I. to give pastoral
care to Polish immigrants – more than 1000 families.
Was also responsible for planning and writing the Polish language
segments of church publications.
1976 Arrived in the U.S. on invitation to serve Portuguese people in New
Bedford, Massachusetts. Worked there in pastoral capacity and especially
as organizer and instructor in CCD for children and adults.
1972-1976 Worked as pastor at Ijui Parish, Brazil (located in Rio Grande do Sul in
the southern part of Brazil). The parish consisted of more than 20 churches. The work included running a very active lay ministry , chaplaincy in hospitals, teaching in high schools, and responsibility for a radio program and a newspaper. During this time, also studied philosophy at the University of Ijui, conferring the right to teach the higher form subjects of Philosophy, Psychology and History.
1970-1971 Assistant pastor at Barao de Cotegipe, Rio Grande do Sul.
Besides regular missionary duties involving travel over large areas, taught
ethics and religion on a high school level.
1966-1970 Was Director of the Seminary in Camaqua, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil,
with full responsibility for both administrative and educational functions.
1966 Performed duties of assistant pastor, Dom Felician, Rio Grande do Sul,
Brazil. In that vast parish such duties involved the missionary scope of activity, with many chapels and schools to minister to in a regular travel circuit of many, many miles.
1964-1965 Assistant pastor, Stargard Azczecinski, Poland.
Taught religion amounting to 30 hours each week.
Performed other pastoral duties.
May 17, 1964 Was ordained a priest in the Society of Christ in Poznan, Poland.
1957-1964 Studied Philosophy and theology at the Catholic University, Lublin,
Poland. And Major Seminary of the Society of Chirst, Poznan Poland.
Earlier Completed high school (Polish equivalent) with a pedagogical orientation. Graduated fully qualified as a grade school level teacher of general subjects and the Russian language. Was accepted for University as a mathematics major.
