The Prayer of Saint Francis

 

오, 주여 나를 평화의 도구로 써주소서
미움이 있는 곳에 사랑을
다툼이 있는 곳에 용서를
분열이 있는 곳에 일치를
의혹이 있는 곳에 믿음을 심도록 나를 도와주소서

 

오, 주여 나를 평화의 도구로 써주소서
오류가 있는 곳에 진리를
절망이 있는 곳에 희망을
어둠이 있는 곳에 광명을
슬픔이 있는 곳에 기쁨을 심게 하소서

 

오, 주여 나를 평화의 도구로 써주소서
위로받기보다는 위로하며
이해받기보다는 이해하고
사랑받기보다는 사랑하여
자기를 온전히 줌으로써 영생을 얻기 때문이니

 

오, 주여 나를 평화의 도구로 써주소서

 

 

 

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace
where there is hatred, let me sow love
where there is injury, pardon
where there is doubt, faith
where there is despair, hope
where there is darkness, light
and where there is sadness, joy.

 

O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console
to be understood, as to understand
to be loved, as to love
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
